On November 9, 2006, Harvey Ingram LLP, a famous law firm in Great Britain, came to Tahota Law Firm for visit and exchange by taking the opportunity of China-EU trade negotiation. The meeting was held in our small meeting room. Lawyer Qianhong Tang (senior partner and deputy director of International Business Department of Tahota Law Firm) hosted the meeting, and Lawyer Shoutai Cheng (chief partner and director of Tahota), Lawyer Bin Liu (senior partner of Financial Securities Department), Xingtong Chen (manager of Administration Department) and full-time Lawyer Tiankui Zhang took part in this meeting.

Through preliminary communication, the overseas study experience of Lawyer Qianhong Tang in Great Britain immediately narrowed the gap of the two parties and the lawyers of Harvey Ingram LLP felt rather genial. The full English language communication created a friendly and relaxing atmosphere for the two parties. The two parties fully exchange their own history, practice fields, lawyers’ expertise and management and operation models and found out many similarities: 1. The headquarters of these two law firms were not established in costly capital cities; 2. These two law firms were leaders in their regions; 3. The quick business growth became objective requirement and external driving force of their respective internationalized development.

According to the introduction of an Indian British lawyer, Harvey Ingram LLP already had a history over 200 years and currently had nearly 250 practicing lawyers. It was one of the largest law firms in the middle of Great Britain with its clients spread all over the world. West China, as an intensively developed region in the world largest emerging market, was one of target markets they focused on. It was also a foundation for the two parties to sit down and communicate. Besides, there were many practicing lawyers from India in Harvey Ingram LLP. The two parties indicated that the backgrounds of Indian or Indian British lawyers should be fully utilized to jointly expand the law service market of India.
